La Hueso Agroecological Park
Original title: Parque agroecológico La Hueso
A linear park along the La Hueso stream that combines gardens, apiaries, plazas and night walks as a transition space between the city and the ecological structure.
About the project
The agropark sits in the corridor of the La Hueso stream, between the Suramericana station and the Medellín River. It is a transition space between the city and the ecological structure that brings together urban and natural dynamics: paths, resting areas, productive zones and spaces for contemplation such as bird watching, picnics and children's recreation.
The project recovers the environmental value of the water's edge and turns it into a livable landscape where nature, local culture and everyday life meet in balance. Along the stream, thirteen pieces follow one another: two plazas, a bus bay and shelter, a hydraulic play area, a species restoration workshop, gardens of vegetables, medicinal, aromatic and regulated use plants, classrooms and sales areas, apiaries and a children's park.
The ecological strategies are organized in stations: production and restoration, water and environmental awareness, medicinal and culinary plants, aromatic and pollinator plants, and gathering and staying. They include species pairings for the biological control of pests and an ecological corridor with trees arranged according to their function. Warm, linear, recessed night lighting accompanies the paths and highlights the vegetation and the furniture.
